# AgentGrid artifact viewing guidance
This is generic viewing guidance, not the artifact's content or access status. It does not confirm that the requested artifact or branch exists or that you can read it.
AgentGrid app artifacts render live code in an embedded preview frame. The initial HTML or a text-only fetch can contain only the loading shell; that is not evidence that the app is empty or broken.
To inspect rendered content, open the artifact URL in a real JavaScript-enabled browser, wait for loading to finish, and inspect/interact with the embedded preview frame, not just the outer AgentGrid shell.
To inspect source instead, connect using https://api.agentgrid.io/connect. With authorized access, use AgentGrid MCP artifact-explore or the CLI npx @animaapp/cli@latest explore <artifactUrl> --read <path>. These read main, not a branch selected in the URL.
For the complete project locally, use MCP artifact-get_git_token or npx @animaapp/cli@latest get-git-token <artifactUrl>, then git clone the returned gitRemoteUrl. Treat that token-bearing URL as a secret. If the artifact URL selects a branch, check out that branch in the clone before inspecting or running it. You can also use the artifact's Export code (.zip) action for apps, when available, to obtain project files locally; do not mistake an HTML page fetch for a project download.
Source access and downloads remain subject to existing permissions. If access is denied, ask the owner for access; do not bypass authentication. Reading source is not proof of what the running app renders.
